Job Purpose

The apprenticeship tutor will run and deliver apprenticeship programmes across the UK. The role will require the successful candidate to have a good understanding of the delivery of apprenticeship standards. There will be a blended learning approach, with some in-class sessions to support the development of the apprentices.

Responsibilities

  • To deliver Levels 4 & 5 Children, Young People and Families Practitioner and Manager (CYP) Apprenticeship standards
  • To undertake an appropriate initial assessment of learners to ascertain their starting point on the course
  • To prepare and produce schemes of work and session plans as directed by the Quality Team.
  • To assess learner’s performance in the workplace
  • To deliver Functional Skills qualifications as part of an apprenticeship
  • To work with employers to maintain engagement and curriculum sequencing
  • To maintain up-to-date and accurate records (e-portfolio and caseload tracker) for each learner according to internal procedures
  • To carry out regular progress reviews with learners to track progress towards timely completion
  • To provide ongoing information, advice and guidance with learners for them to reach their aspirations and goals
  • To deliver training on a 1:1 or group basis – face to face or online
  • To comply with the internal quality assurance strategy and ensure that assessments are delivered to a high standard
  • To provide progression, retention and achievement information for the course being taught
  • To contribute to the self-assessment process which informs continuous improvement
  • To undertake appropriate training as identified through the observation and line management process
  • To keep up to date with curriculum development in the relevant subject areas
  • To deliver inclusive and high-quality courses, materials and opportunities to all learners, and actively seek to eliminate any indirect or direct discriminatory practice or behaviours
  • To achieve good levels of compliance by maintaining timely records
  • To ensure electronic diaries are always kept up to date with detailed appointments
  • Any other duty which, from time to time, may reasonably be required to meet the needs of the business

Essentials

  • Fully qualified as a Tutor / Assessor – A1/ TAQA / CAVA or equivalent
  • Knowledge and understanding of apprenticeship standards up to level 5 with different relevant awarding bodies
  • Level 2 Functional Skills Maths and English
  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children’s People’s Services
  • Experience as a Children, Young People and Families Manager within the community
  • 3-5 years experience supporting families and young people
  • Evidence high-quality teaching and delivery
  • Knowledge of funding streams and funding requirements for the delivery of Apprenticeship and skills programmes
  • Proven knowledge of effective teaching, learning, and assessment practices to engage learners.
  • Ability to support and motivate learners through challenging times
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to manage own diary
  • Ideally, at least five years’ experience of working in an educational training and development environment
  • Experience in managing the full learner journey; initial assessment, IAG, diagnostic, teaching-learning-assessment, including classroom and 1:1 delivery
  • Experience in using e-portfolio systems e.g., SMART Assessor
